Detroit Auto Show Review

Bookmark and Share

In years North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) was a huge success, it feels like car companies are ready to make a bold recovery from the 2009 bailouts that almost led to the fall of the "Big three" Nearly every car company had more cars there than they have had is recent years, not to mention the most world premiers, the auto show has seen in a long time. So what did I think about the show on my trip up to the cold, city of Detroit? Here is the complete review of all of the auto-makers that made their presence at this year’s North American Auto Show.

-Audi-

RS7- Audi decided that it was time to bring the much wanted RS7 to the states, which is great because it packs 560 horsepower that launches it from 0-60 in less than four seconds, all that power gets delivered by 565lb, and even more impressive Audi claims that it will provide an average 24 miles to the gallon. Although all this awesome comes with a price, expect the car to cost around 70 grand.

A6 TDI- Much like a RS7 but a little but smaller, and quite a bit less power to work with, not to mention a diesel engine, but it is a very good looking car. reports say that this engine can get over 35mpg, and with a diesel engine, you will be looking good in this car for a long time, with most engine life expectancy around 15-20 years!

-Chevy-
Corvette Stingray- This is probably not news to you that the C7 has been released in Detroit this year, The C7 Corvette has taken some big risks in the style, but it looks like those risks turned out to be huge success, the new headlights are exposed (sorry C2-C5 fans) and have a much more aggressive look to them, with sharp lines, with a slimmer look to them. The taillights look light they smashed the lights from the C5, and the C6, and then blacked them out, and surprisingly, it’s a great combination, looks mean, yet has the retro look. The body is now being switched from using steel, to using aluminum, which is lighter, and stronger, so you can make the most out of the 480hp. So win for you and Chevy.

-Ford-
Atlas- This new truck was the making of the people at Ford trucks, although nothing was been released about the truck yet, I doubt it will ever make it to production; no specs have yet to have been shown, although I could see some of the features carrying over to future F-150

-Tesla-
Model S- yep, I thought, as did many other people, the Telsa was the best car in 2012, not just for its amazing power, and 0-60 times for being an all eclectic car, it’s the ground breaking technology that’s in the car, the dashboard is all computerized, "It’s like one big iPad". The car is also has great range, around 150-250 miles on all eclectic mode, which is impressive for a car this big. although you may be thinking this is an expensive car, its costs around the same as a 5-Series BMW, and the upper range model is on target with the A8, and the BMW- 7 series, and i think it’s better than all of them by far.

-RAM-
1500- Ram brings out its award wining truck back for 2013, and this time it takes home the cake with the Motor Trend Car of the Year award. The exterior has some slight charges, new grill, slightly more aggressive headlights, and some handy things around the outside, like a gun rack, and even a cooler. But, Ram is not the one who designed the truck, neither is Fiat, Nissan is the Mastermind behind this, not to mention the suspension was designed by Nissan, which Ram got most of the credit for. So why dose Nissan not have a truck? Several reasons, when the huge earthquake struck that would have been around the time Nissan would have sent off the new Titan, also complications with Fiat stopped the deal around halfway through the process, so we should all wait and see what Nissan has up its sleeve.

-Acura-
NSX- Back from the dead is the far-to-long-gone NSX from the unlikely brand of Acura, from the looks of the car, it seems to be made of mostly carbon fiber, even the wheels have carbon inserts to save weight. Nothing much has been released on the car, other than it looks like a dirctet competitor with the LFA; it’s expected to cost quite a bit less to.

-Mercedes Benz-
CLA- as you might have seen in the Super Bowl add this year, this stunning looking car starts at just 29 grand. Even better news, the AMG version has been planed, huge, twin turbo V8 is expected, plan for a jaw dropping 500+ horsepower, and a even more jaw dropping price tag of $70,000

Other than that, their entire line-up as been updated, there’s a bit too much to put into this article, but I will be putting allot more time into this new line-up this year.

-Jeep-
SRT-8 Grand Cherokee- If you have not already seen this car I recommend you do it. It is by far, the most bad- @#!*% car ever, I mean, who does not want a huge Jeep to haul all of your friends, and there gear to go skiing or whatever you want do. Other cool things with beast contains are launch control, and all of the standard things you find on a 50k SUV. SRT really out-did themselves with this car, it looks great, makes over 400 horsepower, and sounds amazing, hats off to the most bad @#!*% SUV ever.

-Infinity-
Q50- The aging brand has brought back the once loved Q50! But they do not want you to remember the past, because the future looks bright. Infinity is trying to make the "steer by wire" system work, and so far, they are getting closer, and if it makes it into production, it will be a game changer; this system could make a huge leap in safety in cars. Good luck to them, and look at those headlights, by far, the best looking in the business.
